Analysis on
Clinic Application with 243 Cases The first Military Medical University,
Zhujiang Hospital
Cardio-/cerebrovascular diseases are common and frequently-incurring diseases
which seriously threatens the health of human being. With the increasing
improvement of people's material living standards, the attack rate of this
disease increased year on year. As the demands for health and living quality
increase, it becomes more difficult to prevent this illness. For decades,
people have been committed to the research on the prevention and cure of
cardio-cerebrovascular disease, especially in recent years, more and more
treatment methods and medicines have emerged, the effect is not so satisfying.
Our hospital had been using the “Cardio-/Cerebrovascular Therapeutic
Instrument” of King Tontown Medical Instrument Co., Ltd. from April 1995 to
September 1996, giving a better clinic effect on 243 cases with
Cardio-/Cerebrovascular Disease. Now, we report the results as below:
I. General Information
243 patients include 110 male patients and 133 female patients, aged from 23 to
82 years old averaging at 57.25±15.33 years old. These patients can be divided
into the following groups:
1. Coronary heart disease: 44 cases, the duration of illness varied from 2
months to 6 years. The main symptoms included chest distress, palpitation and
angina pectoris. ECG showed myocardial ischemia, and some with different types
of abnormality of heart rhythm, such as atrial or ventricular premature beat,
auriculo-ventricular block (AVB) and atrial fibrillation.
2. High Blood Pressure: 40 cases with more than 1 year of course of illness.
The systolic pressure was 22-26Kpa averaged at 2.72±2.88Kpa, and the diastolic
pressure was 13-17.3Kpa, averaged at14.04±1.84Kpa.
3. Cerebral Infarction: 52 cases with the duration of illness from1 week to 3
years, all transferred from the Department of Neurology with CT-conformed
diagnose.
4. Cervical Dizziness: 32 cases, the illness lasted 4 days or 3 years with the
main symptoms like dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and the activities of head and
neck were limited. The Cerebral Blood Flow showed that vertebral basilar artery
had no sufficient blood supply, and X-ray film showed that it matched the
change of cervical spondylosis.
5. Autonomic Nerve Disorder: 38 cases including 30 cases with functional sleep
disorder, 3 cases with stomach intestine autonomic nerve disorder and 5 cases
with heart autonomic nerve disorder.
6. Post-Cerebral Trauma Syndrome: 8 cases showing headache, dizziness, head
nesthesia and feeling of distress.
7. Others: 29 cases including 6 cases with chronic renal insufficiency, 10
cases with lumbocrural pain, 5 cases with rheumatoid arthritis, 4 cases with
diabetes, 2 cases with Parkinson’s disease, 1case with paraplegia after
meningioma operation and 1 case with Guillain-Barre Syndrome.
II. Methods
1. Therapeutic Methods:
By using the Cardio-Cerebrovascular Therapeutic Instrument (hereafter called as
“CCTI”) produced by King Tontown Medical Instrument Co., Ltd, this instrument
will output the alternating electromagnetic wave. When starting this
instrument, the patient need to lay on a specific therapeutic bed for 30-40
minutes per time, one time per day. One course of treatment needs 10 times, and
generally the patient should continue the treatment for 2-3 courses. II.
Lipoprotein & Subcomponent Test: Using enzyme-linked method to test the
lipoprotein and its subcomponent before and after the treatment.
3. Blood Rheology: draw 5ml venous blood respectively before treatment and
after 20 time of treatment with the NXE-1 conical viscometer of Chengdu
Instrument Factory to test the whole blood viscosity (under high and low shear
rate) and the plasma specific viscosity.
4. To have ECG, Cerebral Blood Flow and blood pressure tests on patients with
coronary heart disease, cerebral infarction, high blood pressure and cervical
dizziness before and after treatment.
5. Assessment Standards for Therapeutic Effect: based on Treatment Standards
for Clinic Diseases Diagnose stipulated by the Department of Health of General
Logistics Department, PLA.
6. Data Processing: all data were put in the computer and processed by
Microsoft Excel5.0 statistics software to calculate the average, standard
deviation and to have T-test for the matched data. |
III. Results
1. Analysis on Therapeutic Effects
This paper involved 243 cases including 117 cases with apparent effect, taking
up 48.15%, 90 cases turning better, 37.04%. The effectiveness was 85.19 and
ineffectiveness took up 14.81%. Among these patients, those with
cardio-/cerebrovascular disease are the majority, and they all were with better
therapeutic effect. Compared with other diseases, P is less than 0.05, meaning
that there was obvious difference. Patients with autonomic nerve disorder had a
better result with the effectiveness of 97.3%. However, this instrument has
little effect to some non-cardio-/cerebrovascular diseases with an
effectiveness of 48.28%.(See Table 1)

Shown as Table 2, 24 patients received 16.1 times of treatment averaged. The
average for Apparent Effect, Turn Better and Ineffective was 21.5, 12.3 and 8.2
times respectively. So we could conclude that the effectiveness is directly
proportional to the therapeutic times. In Table 1, the patients who failed to
cure the cardio-/cerebrovascular disease did not insist the treatment for one
course. For the patients with autonomic nerve disorder, especially for the
neurasthenic, this instrument began to works after 5 times, and after one
course of treatment, the therapeutic target will be achieved.

IV. Discussion
Atherosclerosis is the most common type of arteriosclerosis, which can damage
the great and mid-sized arteries including the coronary arteries and cerebral
arteries leading to the damage of Cardio-/Cerebrovascular functions which can
cause severe symptom, even death. During the development of atherosclerosis,
there are many dangerous factors, among which the abnormity of lipoprotein
constitutes the major danger. Therefore, the research on the components of
lipoprotein plays an import role in the prevention of formation of
atherosclerosis, slowing-down of depravation and how to eliminate the
atherosclerosis. The studies show that cholesterol (chol) plays an important
role in atheromatosis. It is known that the serum total cholesterol (Tc) is
carried by three types of lipoprotein: LDL-c, VLDL-c)and HDL-c, among which the
chol in takes up 60% of Tc. As the main carrier of serum chol, LDL-c has
participated in the formation of atheromatosis. HDL-c is the antipoter protein
of the inside Tc with the function to prevent the cells from intaking cho and
to transport cho to the liver for decomposition and excretion. Therefore, the
decrease of viscosity of Tc, LDL-c and VLDL-c and the increase of HDL-c
Viscosity will help fight against the atheromatosis and reduce the attack of
Cardio-/Cerebrovascular Disease. At present, it is generally believed that the
rate of Tc/HDL-c or the rate of LDL-c/HDL-c can better reflect the development
of the illness, so in recent years there are many research focusing on the
change of the ratio. The studies prove that the physical therapy has certain
effect on the metabolism of lipoprotein. As Dong Shengzhang and Zhong Saixian
reported, the magnetic-treated water can reduce the cho and TG in animal’s
serum and increase HDL [1.2]. Wang Jianguo and Zhao Yutang used the
low-frequency pulse current and ultra-short wave to reduce the viscosity of TG
and cho to [3.4]. Pan Wengan reported that the high-voltage electrostatic field
with certain strength could reduce the total fat content in plasma. They think
that physical agents can change the physical properties of some substances,
such as surface tension, viscosity, ion solubility, permeation pressure, Ph
value and enzyme activity, and improve the metabolism of lipoprotein via
nerve-body fluid system, for example, cho’s synthesis will drop down, and
takedown and excretion will increase. However, we never see the reports about
the effect of alternating electromagnetic wave against the metabolism of
lipoprotein. This paper applies “CCTI” alternating electromagnetic field to act
on human body, and its results show that the “CCTI” can decrease TG, Tc, LDL-c
and increase HDL-c in the serum, and make the rate of Tc/HDL-c or LDL-c/HDL-c
lower down, playing a significant meaning to the prevention and curing of
Cardio-/Cerebrovascular Disease.
There is a close relationship between the blood rheology and the occurrence and
development of cardio-/cerebrovascular diseases. Arteriosclerosis, myocardial
infarction and cerebrovascular diseases always occur with the abnormity of the
blood rheology. Studies shows that before some cardio-/cerebrovascular diseases
occur with apparent symptoms, there are always some alternations of blood
viscosity factors, and the blood rheology takes an important role in some basic
pathological course such as inflammation, arteriosclerosis and formation of
thrombus. Therefore, the improving of the nature of blood rheology lays a
significant meaning to the prevention and curing of cardio-/cerebrovascular
diseases. According to the report of Zhang Zeshu and Li Saishan, the physical
agents can change the characteristic of blood rheology [6.7]. The blood
viscosity is a comprehensive index, the main mechanic characteristic of blood
and the main subject of blood rheology research. This paper observed 22
cardio-/cerebrovascular diseases cases on the blood viscosity before and after
treatment. The results show that there is obvious decrease in high-shear whole
blood viscosity, low-shear blood viscosity and the plasma viscosity, and after
statistics processing,P<0.001, with obvious difference (See Table 5). The
operation system is: with the action of the alternating electromagnetic filed
of “CCTI”, the films (including the enzyme, receptor, surface charge
distribution) will change and electrolyte's ion will move and inside permeation
pressure and PH value will also change. These changes are the main factors
influencing the blood ryheology. In addition, some materials show that the
blood viscosity is related negatively with the content of HDL-c but actively
related with LDL-c and TG [8]. The results in this paper indicate that the
content of TG, Tc and LDL-c can be reduced and HDL-c can be increased to reduce
the blood viscosity and change the characteristics of the blood ryheology. This
paper involves 243 cases including 117 cases with apparent effect, taking up
37.04% with an effectiveness of 85.15% which is lower than that in prior
reports [9]. This may be because there are some patients who failed to maintain
one course of treatment excluded in the statistics (Table 1). However, it also
can prove that CCTI has a clear effect on the curing of the
Cardio-/cerebrovascular diseases. This is because CCTI can effectively change
the composition of serum lipoprotein and lower down the blood viscosity so that
it can improve the blood supply of Cardio-/cerebrovascular blood vessels.
Meanwhile, the electromagnetic wave produced by this instrument can adjust the
nerve system, especially for the autonomic nerve system. It can change the
elasticity of the whole blood vessels and reduce the surrounding resistance.
Therefore this instrument gives a positive effect to the ischemic
cardio-/cerebrovascular diseases and can also lower down the patients’ blood
pressure. For example, 40 cases with high blood pressure reduced the systolic
pressure and diastolic pressure 0.01 (Table 3). As CCTI can improve the
composition of lipoprotein and the blood viscosity, it also has clear
stimulation on the blood supply of vertebral basilar artery. As a result, it
can cure the cervical dizziness. Among 32 cases herein, 16 cases’ Cerebral
Blood Flow showed normal and all symptoms disappeared, 12 cases improved in the
Blood Flow and symptoms. From Table 2, the effectiveness is proportional to the
times and period of treatment. As long as the patients follow doctors’ advice,
better results will be obtained; otherwise it will effect the final results.
In the obvious effect again the cardio-/cerebrovascular diseases, and As CCTI
can adjust the nerve system, especially for the autonomic nerve system, it also
has good effect on the disorder of autonomic nervous functions, especially to
the nervosism patients. This paper involves 38 cases including 25 cases with
Apparent Effect and 12 cases turned better with an effectiveness of 97.37%,
higher than the total effectiveness. From the one year of experience, we
believe that CCTI has not only obvious therapeutic effect on nervosism
patients, but also with less treatment. Generally, it will show effective after
more than 5 times of treatment and 10 times will provide you a satisfying
result. Except the obvious effect from specific treatment on “Functional Sleep
Disorder”, most patients said that CCTI could improve the sleep quality and
give them a better spirit. This is also because the electromagnetic filed can
adjust the autonomic nerve system. For non- cardio-/cerebrovascular diseases,
this instrument has a poor performance, for example, among 36 cases, 15 cases
are with other diseases. As for the side effects and therapeutic reflection,
there was no side effect found on the 243 cases, and only several patients felt
palpitated and chest distressed at the beginning. After explanation, they
continue to use CCTI treatment, all abnormal disappeared after 5 times of
treatment.
It is concluded that CCTI can effectively improve the lipoprotein and its
subcomponent, lower down the blood viscosity and change the characteristics of
the blood rhyeology. The results of clinic application sound satisfactory
without any side effects. So CCTI has a broad prospective for the
cardio-/cerebrovascular diseases. It is also more important for the prevention
of such diseases.
